Know Your Neighbor is an immersive installation exploring stories and cultures within neighborhoods. The project uses 360-degree film and intimate interviews to create room-scale experiences without VR headsets, making it accessible to diverse audiences.

Design & experience

The installation features five real-life front doors. Visitors enter individual spaces surrounded by panoramic screens displaying footage from residents’ living rooms. This approach provides all the immersion of virtual reality without the barriers of headsets.

Purpose & impact

By revealing shared human experiences — hopes, struggles, routines and dreams — the project aims to foster empathy, challenge prejudices and strengthen community bonds. The creators assert:

Accessibility

The installation welcomes participants of all ages, from children to elderly residents, without requiring specialized equipment.
